Fossil Friday: To Hell & Back: Mammal

The Cretaceous–Paleogene mass extinction marked the demise of the dinosaurs (except for birds) and the beginning of the Age of Mammals. Using specimens collected from the Hell Creek region of NE Montana, we can explore how mammals recovered and diversified to take over the world.

Jordan is a 5th year graduate student in Dr. Greg Wilson Mantilla's lab at the University of Washington. His research focuses on the ecology of mammals following the Cretaceous–Paleocene mass extinction, specifically changes in diet and body size. Outside of research, Jordan is passionate about making paleontology a more diverse and welcoming field for minority students.
